Weekend Evening Meteorologist

Andrew Shipley is the weekend meteorologist and environmental reporter with the Fox 4 Weather Team.

Andrew grew up in Sicklerville, New Jersey, and always had a passion for weather. He started forecasting in High School the big Nor’easters, winter blizzards, and the occasional hurricane impacting the Northeast. He was visiting when Hurricane Charley impacted Southwest Florida in 2004. Andrew credits seeing the power of Charley for some of his interest in weather.

Upon graduation from high school, Andrew moved to Melbourne, Florida, where he attended Florida Institute of Technology and earned his B.S. in meteorology with a minor in communications. While in college, Andrew was a student-athlete, running division II track and field.

Andrew’s first experience in broadcast meteorology came as an intern at WESH in Orlando, FL. He then spent a brief time as a freelance weather producer for ABC’s World News Tonight in New York, NY. Andrew earned his first on air camera opportunity at KNBN in Rapid City, SD as the morning meteorologist. Two year later, Andrew moved to Eugene, OR at KEZI, continuing as a morning meteorologist. After few years on the west coast, Andrew moved to the Rio Grande Valley, working at KVEO as the weekend meteorologist.

Andrew is now back in the state of Florida, a place he always considered his second home.

Since joining Fox 4 in 2021, Andrew has covered hurricanes like Ian, Milton, and Helene as well as the tornado outbreak in January 2022. He also has covered major water issues here in Southwest Florida, including Lake Okeechobee water releases, red tide, and blue-green toxic algal blooms.

Andrew's coverage in Southwest Florida has earned him a Florida Association of Broadcast Journalist award for his work on Fox 4's investigation into Lee County's evacuation plan in the wake of Hurricane Ian. He also earn the 2025 Calusa Waterkeeper Friend of the Waterkeeper Award for his environmental coverage. Andrew, along with the rest of Fox 4 Weather Team, were Suncoast Emmy nominated for their work on the 2025 Hurricane Season Special.

Outside of weather, Andrew loves spending time with his wife Emily and their three cats (Munchkin, Opie, and Scary) and golden retriever (Porter). He also enjoys fishing and golfing. Andrew is also an avid sports fan and loves cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies.

If you see him around town, make sure you say hello.
