FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Fort Myers Fire Department battled a fire at a building on Cleveland and Jefferson Avenues on Tuesday afternoon.

Fort Myers Fire Chief Tracy McMilllion said employees were inside when they heard something that sounded like a TV crashing to the floor. He says when firefighters got to the fire, black smoke was pouring out of the front and the back of the building.

"Once crews got to the scene, they aggressively went to work," Chief McMillion said. "Our police department was able to block roads, as well as go to the adjacent structures to ensure there was nobody trapped inside."

He says no one was injured. And those roads are back open.

Investigators are trying to figure out what caused the fire.
