FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Lee County Sheriff's Office confirms it is investigating a non-suspicious death on Temple Drive at a charred mobile home.

The fire sparked on Monday just after 8 a.m. inside the Orange Harbor Mobile Home Park. Neighbors reported hearing an explosion before seeing flames quickly engulf the home.

“I got up and looked out the window, and I saw the flames coming out of the neighbor’s house,” said Jim Robinson, who lives next door and rushed to help when he saw the fire. “I went up to the front, and the flames were just shooting out of the patio door. Another gentleman stopped with his truck and had a fire extinguisher."

"We went around to the side door, but when we opened it, it was impossible. We realized we couldn’t do anything," he said.

The president of the mobile home park’s cooperative praised first responders for acting quickly to contain the fire and said no other homes sustained serious damage, he said.

LCSO said Tuesday that the death was not suspicious, but that the cause will be up to the fire marshal to determine.

Fox 4 is working to learn more and will provide updates when available.

This article has been updated to clarify that the fire occurred within Fort Myers, just outside the North Fort Myers border.
