LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A Florida man was handed down his sentence Monday after being found guilty of traveling to meet a minor in May of last year.
29-year-old Joseph Mainini was sentenced to ten years in prison followed by 5 years of sex offender probation.
He also received a lifetime designation as a sexual offender.
The State Attorney’s Office says Mainini used text messaging apps to arrange to meet a person he believed to be a 14-year-old girl with the intent to engage in sexual activity, but was actually an undercover detective with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Mainini was one of several people arrested that month under “Operation Picket Fence”.
