Lee County deputies say 17-year-old hit while walking to school, Thursday morning

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — The Lee County Sheriff's Office reports a 17-year-old student was hit by a driver while walking to school.

They tell us the student was on their way to Lehigh Acres High School, when a Chevy Equinox driver hit them at Gunnery Road North and 12th Street West around 6:30 a.m.

LCSO tells Fox 4 that the driver stayed on scene. Deputies are also still in the area, as of 7:20 a.m.

The student was transported with a leg injury, according to LCSO.
