LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating a deadly crash between a semi truck trailer and a pickup truck early Friday morning.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office said they also responded to the crash on July 25 around 4:30 a.m. Deputies said two vehicles crashed in the area of Joel Boulevard and East 10th Street, near a Lehigh Acres Fire Station.
According to Florida Highway patrol, a 23-year-old from Lehigh Acres was driving south on Joel Boulevard at a high rate of speed in the left lane.
He was driving a 2014 Ford F-350.
A 2008 Kenwood tractor pulling a flat deck trailer loaded with concrete slabs stopped at the stop sign on East 10th street.
The semi attempted a left turn, when the F-350 collided with the left side of the trailer.
The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene.
