Update (3:38P)

Cape Coral Fire and Rescue says they responded to a leaking propane tank call at the Ace Hardware location on Nicholas Parkway around 11 a.m. Friday morning.

Businesses nearby were evacuated as a safety precaution.

CAPE GAS LEAK

The crew's hazardous material team attached a flare to burn off the propane. This was the view of the flame from the FOX 4 Studios towercam.

Crews also tell FOX 4's Ella Rhoades that the flare drained gas from the tank to decrease pressure and allow the gas company to repair the 1,000 gallon tank.

Cape Fire says the tank's valve was not fully secured - leading to the leak.
