Firefighters say two homes destroyed in Bokeelia fire, Tuesday morning

UPDATE 11AM:

No serious injuries are reported, though one person was taken to the hospital, according to crews on scene.

The department said the fire started at one mobile home trailer, and then spread to two more, but was then contained. There was a family with children in the second trailer, but they got out safely according to the fire department. Firefighters report two of the mobile home trailers were completely destroyed in the fire, while a third was damaged.

The cause is still under investigation.

Our crew saw one person being taken away by an ambulance.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Matlacha-Pine Island Fire Department is responding to a fire, Tuesday morning.

Crews said it was a structure fire call at 6:04 a.m. on Sept. 16. The fire department said they were still fighting the fire as of 6:45 a.m.

Fox 4 is working to learn whether any injuries are reported, and how this started. We will update this article as soon as new information comes in.
