The fire department said while it did rescue several homes out of the home, some ran off.

Firefighters said a dog, cat and some kittens were scared and ran off.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Cape Coral Fire Department is investigating a fire at a home that sent one person to the hospital in critical condition.

According to first responders, the fire sparked at a home on Southeast 5th Place and Wildwood Parkway.

Firefighters said they removed one person from the home and airlifted them to a hospital. At that time, they were in critical condition.

The fire department said it also rescued a dog, cat and some kittens.

The cause is under investigation.
