Detectives with the North Port Police Department's Traffic Homicide Unit obtained an arrest warrant and placed Damien Chanfrante under arrest relating to the crash on Joewood Circle earlier this month.

Chanfrante reportedly supplied alcohol to several minors on the night of the crash in the remote part of the city, according to police.

He was charged with eight counts of supplying alcohol to minors and was booked into the Sarasota county Jail.

In a tweet, the North Port Police Department said "The North Port Police Department takes all DUI's seriously, especially when it involves those that are underage. We will continue to work relentlessly in holding those that drive drunk or supply alcohol to minors accountable."
