FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says they were alerted to possible exploitation of an elderly case in October of 2020.

A witness in the case notified the Lee County Sheriff’s Office that there was suspicious activity happening on the victim’s credit card.

Detectives with the Economic Crimes Unit began investigating and quickly identified Maudeline Lamy, 28, as a suspect.

LCSO says detectives learned that Lamy took photographs of the victim’s bank cards and used them to make over 80 purchases on Amazon, totaling approximately $7,000.

Lamy was arrested and charged with Grand Theft from a victim 65 and Older, Exploitation of the Elderly, and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card.
