If 30s and 40s sound like freezing to you, grab a jacket, sweater, coat, or winter accessory of your choice and keep it handy. A taste of winter is on tap for the next couple of days.
A strong cold front is ushering in the coldest air of the season into Southwest Florida tonight and we will wake up to temperatures Sunday morning we haven't seen since March!
Lows in the low 40s are expected across most of Southwest Florida, including Port Charlotte, Fort Myers, Cape Coral and Naples. Milder temperatures in the mid 50s are expected at the beaches while the coldest readings will probably be near Lake Okeechobee and in DeSoto County, where a Wind Chill Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service. Just keep in mind, breezy northeast winds 10-15 mph may make it feel a little cooler in the morning - probably like the upper 30s in many spots! And despite the sun's best efforts Sunday, temperatures will struggle to rise. Many areas won't get out of the 50s. A few spots may see highs in the low 60s.
An even colder night is on tap Sunday night into Monday morning thanks to clear skies and calmer winds. Lows near 40 degrees are expected across much of the region. Some upper 30s are possible inland and in our northern counties.
