Victim identified in fatal motel shooting, witnesses sought

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Investigators are asking for witnesses to step forward in a fatal shooting that took place at a Fort Myers motel early Saturday morning.

The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Melvin Vazquez.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the Palm Beach Motel in the 4700 block of Palm Beach Boulevard shortly after 5 a.m. Saturday.  They found Vazquez at the scene, where he died from his injuries.

If you were in the area of the Palm Beach Motel and witnessed the incident or should you have any information regarding this matter, you are asked to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at (239) 477-1000 or to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
