SANIBEL, Fla. — Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen are vacationing on Sanibel Island for the weekend.

Several drivers are worried his visit could cause traffic headaches on the island.

“Traffic is horrible even without the Vice President coming,” Jim Sparrow, visitor from New York.

Some drivers said Pence’s stay last year caused major traffic headaches.

“Traffic is already backed up here because you know it is the busy months,” said Lauren Schneider, visitor from Wisconsin.

However, some people are finding ways around it.

Schneider said instead of driving, she walks to where she needs to go on the island this time of year.

“Go on a bike, walk, roller blade whatever, it’s a great island for that,” said Schneider.

Pence and his wife are expected to vacation on Sanibel Island until Sunday.
