LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Troopers have arrested a Miami man nearly one year after they say he caused a fatal crash in North Fort Myers.

31-year-old Yosbel Fernandez is facing one count of Vehicular Homicide (2nd degree felony), and two counts of Reckless Driving.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, on June 27, 2018, Fernandez was driving a tractor trailer north on U.S. 41 at Tara Boulevard when he ran a red light and hit a Nissan Sentra driven by 60-year-old Kathy Halsey of North Fort Myers.

Troopers determined that Halsey had entered the intersection lawfully on a green light when the truck slammed into her driver side door, killing her.

Fernandez was arrested Friday and booked into the Lee County Jail, where he is being held on no bond.
