CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A single-vehicle crash in Cape Coral Sunday night left two motorcyclists seriously injured, and police say alcohol or drugs were involved.

The crash happened just before midnight Sunday on Vincennes Boulevard.

According to Cape Coral Police, the motorcycle was traveling north on Vincennes at a high rate of speed, approaching Coronado Parkway.  As they approached a curve in the road, the driver locked the brakes, causing the bike to skid for approximately 231 feet before hitting a guardrail.

Both occupants were thrown from the bike and landed 30 feet away on a sidewalk.  The bike continued another 73 feet before stopping.

The driver, 50-year-old John Parsons, suffered life-threatening injuries.  The passenger, 43-year-old Lynn Parsons, suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

They were both trauma alerted to a nearby hospital.
