FORT MYERS, Fla. — The removal of sludge in the Dunbar community continues.
Over 4,500 tons have been taken to Mulberry, Polk County. The sludge will be processed and disposed of at this location.
The original plans had the sludge being shipped to Citrus County, and then to Alabama, but both plans fell through.
The Department of Environmental Protection says once the sludge is treated, it is no longer toxic.
