LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A tip led to the arrest of a 17-year-old who possessed a loaded gun on a school bus Thursday.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the tip that came into the Lee County School District Bus Barn.

Deputies arrived at a bus pulled over on I-75 by Bonita Beach Road. Two students and the bus driver were on the bus.

Deputies learned the student had a loaded Glock 23, 40-caliber handgun, which was later confirmed to be stolen out of Lee County.

Detectives investigated, arrested and charged the juvenile with the possession of a weapon on school property, unlawful possession of a firearm under the age of 18, and carrying a concealed weapon.

The principal at Cypress Lake High School Center For the Arts confirms that the arrested student attends that school.

Bringing a weapon of any kind on to school property will not be tolerated and you will be arrested. The minute we were notified of this situation, deputies and school officials immediately responded and removed the threat. I can assure you that our children, schools, and school buses will be safe in Lee County.
