NAPLES, Fla. -- The Collier County Sheriff's Office is warning drivers that they will be conducting a texting while driving enforcement campaign this week.
The campaign begins Tuesday, and deputies will be making stops throughout the week, including during peak, rush-hour traffic.
They say the goal is to educate the public on the hazards of texting while driving, and the implications of the new law, which went into effect earlier this month. THey hope their efforts will reduce the number of traffic crashes and crash-related injuries.
Should you be stopped, a citation for texting and driving will cost $113. The campaign will last through Friday.
