FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A 14-year-old boy has been booked into a juvenile assessment center after police say he used a stolen cellphone to photograph himself holding a stolen gun.

According to Fort Myers Police, a pizza delivery driver reported that her iPhone and other items were stolen from her car while she made a delivery in the Hyatt Place Hotel off Interstate 75 at State Road 82 early Saturday morning.

The stolen phone was synced up with another phone, which showed the suspect had taken a photo of himself holding a firearm.

Police traced the phone to the hotel, where the teen was spotted fleeing the scene.  Along the way he tossed the gun, which was recovered by officers.

The teen was taken into custody shortly after, and the gun turned out to be stolen in Cape Coral.

The teen, who we are not identifying due to his age, is facing charges of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, grand theft, possession of a firearm by a minor, loitering and prowling.
