Tablet thieves land behind bars

Two people are behind bars after breaking into a car and taking off with an Apple tablet.

It happened on Wednesday at 7270 Kumquat Road in Fort Myers. 

The owner of the tablet told deputies that if the tablet was turned on, it could be located by GPS.

Detectives were later contacted by the victim who stated the tablet had been turned on and according to the GPS, the item was off Arizona Road in San Carlos Park. The location then changed to Alico Road, so detectives knew the stolen item was ina moving vehicle.

After tracking down the tablet, deputies came across a couple who had just purchased the tablet from a younger white male and female.

The sellers were later identified as 19-year-old Mikaela Dial and a minor.

They were both arrested and charged with Larceny, Burglary, and Dealing Stolen Property. Dial was also charged with two additional car burglaries in the area.
