LEE COUNTY, Fla., -- State Attorney candidate, Chris Crowley, turned himself in after a warrant was put out for his arrest for violating campaign laws, Monday. Crowley was accused of hosting a raffle at one of his fundraisers.

The allegations started when Crowley attended a fundraiser at Hut Restaurant on June 14. He says he was raffling off gift baskets to raise money for his campaign, but was unsure whether or not it was allowed.

Crowley gave this statement to Fox 4:

"Here’s what I want the public to know, they have a corrupt and incompetent state attorney’s office that can’t do their job…  but is obsessed about a $600 raffle… I wasn’t sure so I asked the State agency, six days later, they said you couldn’t do it so I gave the money back.”

Crowley says he paid an $800 bond. He said when he gave the money back it was given to dog rescue charities. Crowley is expected to host a news conference tomorrow at 1 pm at the Old Courthouse in downtown Fort Myers.
