CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A Southwest Florida couple is home after spending a week in Dayton,Ohio where multiple tornados tore through the area last month.

“Going up there and helping out, it was a blessing for us,” said LLoid Poples, Beach Brother's BBQ food truck.

Lloid and Susan Poples have family in the area and decided to pack up their Beach Brother's BBQ smoker to feed families impacted by the Dayton tornadoes.

“That’s what food is for to eat, and that’s what food does, brings people together,” said LLoid.

The Poples fed more than 900 people last week with the help of donations and volunteers.

“It was very uplifting for us, yes it was, way more than you could ever imagine,” said the Poples.

Connecting people who live 1,100 miles away.

“A lot of touching stories of how their conditions are and the hugs were amazing,” said the Poples.
