CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Police say a pump at a Cape Coral 7-Eleven store was found to be compromised with a card skimming device earlier this month.
According to a Cape Coral Police report, on January 18th, the operator of the store on Cape Coral Parkway E. at Palm Tree Boulevard was notified of possible fraudulent activity on a customer's card after using the pumps there.
A bluetooth detector device was used on the pump but found no evidence of skimmers. A pump technician later arrived and found that pump #1 did have a bluetooth skimming device inside at the card reader.
Records show that the pump had last been checked six days before.
Detectives removed the device and took it in as evidence.
