CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Police say a man who was escorted from a community party Sunday returned with a gun and opened fire, injuring one person.

64-year-old Philip Bonvino has been charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon.

Police say it started at a community gathering at the pool area of a condo complex on Santa Barbara Boulevard at Cape Coral Parkway.

Witnesses say Bonvino began arguing with other partygoers and became vulgar and insulting.  He was escorted off the property by the condo vice-president and asked not to return.

Police say Bonvino returned to the party about 20-30 minutes later and witnesses say they saw a red laser, and then Bonvino approaching with a firearm.

One person charged at Bonvino to stop him and was injured by gunfire.  Other guests then rushed to assist, and held Bonvino down until police arrived.

The shooting victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Bonvino was also treated at a hospital for an eye injury sustained when the guests attempted to disarm him.  He was then booked into the Lee County Jail.
