DUI crash near Cape Coral Hospital leads to arrest

CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- An alcohol-fueled crash on Del Prado Boulevard Friday morning left two drivers with minor injuries, and sent one of them to jail.

The crash happened at 5:41 a.m. Friday in the 600 block of Del Prado, near Cape Coral Hospital.

According to Cape Coral Police, 35-year-old Teri Branton of Cape Coral was driving a car northbound when she attempted to turn left into the hospital parking lot.  Instead, she drove into the path of a southbound SUV, colliding with it head-on.

Branton was trauma alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital, where it was determined she had only minor injuries.  However, her blood alcohol content tested at .346, more than 4 times the legal limit of .08 in Florida.

The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene.

Branton is now facing charges of DUI with BAC over 0.150, DUI Causing Property Damage, DUI Causing Property Damage, and DUI Causing Personal Injury.
