School keeps putting kids on wrong bus

ESTERO, Fla., -- One mother says her kids keep getting separated and then put on the wrong school bus coming home from Pinewoods Elementary. She says she waited 20 minutes and the school nor her knew where her kid was.

“Where is he? Just a few minutes can seem like forever," said Crystal Melvin, describing the day she said she didn't know where her 6-year-old son was when he didn't come off the bus.

Melvin says her two sons, Kaleb, 6, and Landon, 10, were separated and put on two different buses. When she called Lee County Bus transportation, she says they didn't know where Kaleb was either. He was on a different bus.

4 in your corner reached out to the school district to ask why it keeps happening. Afterwards the school district said someone from Lee County Transportation called her to explain they were working on fixing the situation, explaining quote, "the situation has been satisfactorily resolved."

Melvin says she still doesn't understand why it happens in the first place.

“Parents should not be afraid when their kids come home. They shouldn’t be worried if they’re going to make it home or if they’re on the right bus.”

While the Transportation department works to find a solution for Melvin, she says she’ll be looking into sending her kids to a charter school that personally operates all their buses.
