Sailboat causes power outage on Sanibel Island

SANIBEL, Fla. -- The Lee County Electric Cooperative (LCEC) reports an island-wide power outage on Sanibel due to a sailboat accident.

LCEC says a sailboat hit transmission lines to the island Tuesday afternoon.

As of 1:40 p.m., there was an island-wide power outage on Sanibel.

LCEC crews are working to restore power.
