LEE COUNTY, Fla.-- Reptile enthusiasts will slither to our area for a national reptile convention.
Repticon is a bringing their one day show, Reptiday, to Fort Myers. It will feature reptiles from all over the world, vendors, seminars and demonstrations.
Bob King, of Beyond the Scale Reptiles, says his passion for reptiles started when he was 18 and bought his first snake, a Burmese python.
King has partnered with Repticon for the last 6 years, traveling across the state to meet and educate people about reptiles.
King says reptiles, like snakes, can be more low maintenance than having a pet dog or cat. You usually feed snakes once a week and they can be an easy clean up.
If you are looking to get a pet snake, King recommends getting an animal within your means and starting small. He says a ball python can be a great option because they don't grow very large or fast.
If you are afraid of reptiles, King recommends having an open mind and even holding a large constrictor snake with supervision.
