FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Southwest Florida International Airport ranked as one of the worst airports in the United States according to a new report.

A new report by The Points Guy, an American Travel website and blog, released a new report ranking the 50 busiest airports in the country based on amenities, flight times, and commute.

RSW ranked 46 out of 50, mainly for the lack of business lounges and having less than 20 restaurants in the airport. They also ranked low in the commuting category.

Frequent fliers disagreed with the report’s findings including Shelly Nejame, who travels from Naples to New York frequently through RSW.

“I love the airport. I think it’s very friendly; it’s very perky, it’s a pleasant area to be in,” Nejame said.

David Overly agrees, he travels weekly through RSW and doesn’t see the lack of business lounges as a problem.

“I don’t mind it. I kind of like it, it’s way less busy than Atlanta,” Overly said.

A representative for The Points Guy said the report doesn’t mean RSW is failing as an airport, but there’s room for improvements.

An RSW spokesperson says they are planning to add a business lounge, food/beverage and retail stores.
