CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Cape Coral Police are searching for a man, Monday, who reportedly attempted to abduct a juvenile on Southeast 15th Terrace in Cape Coral.
Police say it happened in the 100 block of SE 15th Terrace at around 5:15 PM on Sunday. The man is described as a Hispanic male, 40-50 years old, driving a white Toyota Prius. He was wearing a plain shirt and possibly jean shorts. Police say he got out of his car, grabbed the boy, and tried to get him into his car. The boy was able to get away and call 911. Parents at a bus stop in the area are now taking extra precautions. "I heard the news and I came early today because of that, it's so scary," said one parent. "I'd like to see more police around the area and around the bus stops."
Cape Coral Police Corporal Phil Mullen tells 4 In Your Corner the Major Crimes Unit is actively searching for the suspect. Surrounding agencies have also received the suspects description in case he is seen in another area. "That way, patrol can focus more efforts on that area," Mullen said.
Police say the car was seen by witnesses in the area prior to the incident. Officers urge you to know where your kids are at all times. Anyone with information is asked to call the Cape Coral Police Department at (239) 574-3223 or 911.
