LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Police are warning residents about a classic scam alert that has started appearing again in the area.
According to Cape Coral Police, they are seeing an uptick in the number of residents reporting suspicious phone calls requesting information.
Fox 4 first reported this scam more than two years ago.
The callers claim to be with LCEC, and are ask for account information and a pin number.
LCEC says they do not contact customers in this manner and it's a scam. They say if this happens to you, hang up and call their customer care number.
Police remind citizens that they should never give an unknown caller your personal information over the phone, even if they claim to be from an organization that you do business with.
