NORTH PORT -- Police are investigating a threatening message found on a bathroom stall inside Heron Creek Middle School.

Police say the threat was written in black marker in a locker room at the school. However, the threat did not specify a time or date.

To ensure the safety and security of students and staff, more police officers will be on campus Thursday morning.

The Public Information Officer for North Port Police, Josh Taylor said they can't release at this time exactly what the message said, only that it threatened to hurt other students.

This isn't the first issue at the middle school.

Exactly two weeks ago, police say they arrested a 13-year-old for allegedly threatening another student.

Police also say last Friday, a student found a month old note, directly threatening another student. The note was dated. Police interviewed the student that wrote it and charges will be determined by the State Attorneys Office.

Right now, school leaders and police are working to find out who's responsible for the newest threat.

The North Port Police Department spokesperson, as well as the middle school's principal, Kris Lawrence sent out a message to parents, click here to read it.
