Plane owner catches man attempting burglary

A Collier County Sheriff's Office deputy shot a dog after the animal reportedly attacked him. The deputy responded to a home located on Coastal Bay Circle after a man was served with an injunction and forced to leave, CCSO said in a statement. Upon arrival, a large mixed breed dog escaped from a room in the house and bit the deputy in the left arm. The deputy issued multiple verbal commands for the owner to control the dog, but the animal escaped his grasp and lunged onto the deputy's chest, CCSO said. The dog's second bite was to his body armor. The deputy continued to issue verbal commands to the owner to restrain the animal but the dog escaped a third time and luged towards the deputy's face, at which time the deputy shot the dog, CCSO said in a statement. The owner of the dog transported the animal to a veterinarian the the injured deputy drove himself to a hospital to seek medical attention. A Naples man is accused of trying to break into an unoccupied plane, the Collier County Sheriff's Office said in a report. Deputies responded to Skyway Dr. in reference to a burglary, Saturday morning. When they arrived, they found 25-year-old Devin Woods on the ground and restrained by the plane owner. The owner of the plane told deputies that he witnessed Devin take the tarp off the front of his plane and attempted to pry open the doors, a report states. Once the plane owner confronted Devin, the two engaged in a physical altercation. The owner was able to place Devin in a wrist lock and restrained him until deputies arrived to the scene. He was arrested and charged with Burglary and Marijuana Possession.
