LEE COUNTY, Fla.-- You can hit the town and socialize with other pet owners, all while helping shelter animals.
The Paws Pawty is on Friday, June 22, at the Gulf Coast Town Center from 5:30 to 9 p.m. There will be pet costume contests, photo booths, live entertainment, raffles and more. The Gulf Coast Humane Society will have some of their adoptable pets at the event.
Our featured pet of the week is Mitzy, a 4-and-a-half year old Beagle mix. She is around 35 to 40 pounds. Mitzy loves kids and gets along with other dogs and pets.
With the rising temperatures and humidity, it's important to keep our pets protected. The GCHS says to keep your pets inside. If you do take them outside, make sure it's not longer than a few minutes.
If you're running errands, don't bring your pets with you. Even if you keep your pets in the car with the windows down, it can still be dangerous.
