Permanent Daylight Saving could help some businesses

The Florida Senate has approved a bill that would make Daylight Saving Time the standard for the entire state year-round. The "Sunshine Protection Act" is now on its way Governor Rick Scott for consideration.

One argument against the Florida Senate's decision is the averse effect the lack of sunlight will have on morning commuters and students. Restaurants, on the other hand, would benefit.

One of those restaurants is Steve Tomato's Sports Page. Steve Jacoby, the manager of the sports bar located in Cape Coral, says Daylight Saving Time usually means a shift in the times customers come in.

“Everybody’ll start coming in later. So instead of us getting our initial dinner push at four-thirty, five o'clock, people’ll actually start coming in at five, five-thirty", he told Four in Your Corner.

Jacoby expects that the permanent Daylight Saving Times will stretch out his dinner hour and lead to him being able to accommodate more customers during the evening rush.
