CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- One neighbor found three syringes left in a lot across from his house, leaving him and others to believe Cape Coral could have a drug problem.
“God forbid a kid got ahold of it, stabbed themselves," said Jim Weaver, a Cape Coral resident who found one syringe on Tuesday and then two more the following Thursday. After posting a picture to the Cape Coral Open Forum, Weaver said he was surprised to see comments of others around the city finding the same things.
“There were some reactions. Yeah, we’re finding it here, we’re finding it there. So we got some concerns out of it.”
However, other neighbors believe assuming the needles were used for drugs might be jumping too quick to conclusions.
One neighbor challenged that the needles were never checked by authorities for drugs.
"I'm not just too sure, they haven’t tested it... I mean diabetic people use needles all the time.”
Weaver did not file a police report, but said if the issue continues it will be his next step.
