COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- A Naples man was taken to the hospital Wednesday after a deer ran in front of his motorcycle in Golden Gate Estates.
It happened at 6:26 p.m. Wednesday on 6th Avenue NE near Everglades Boulevard.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 39-year-old Mark Reed was riding a motorcycle eastbound when a deer ran across the road. The motorcycle hit the deer and was redirected into a mailbox before overturning onto the road.
Reed was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
The deer did not survive the crash.
