COLLIER COUNTY, Fla — The group "Gentle'men Against Domestic Violence" is launching a fund raising campaign in Collier County.

The 250 men and more campaign encourages men to donate $250 by March 12th.

The Collier County Commission will proclaim March 12th "Gentle'men Against Domestic Violence" awareness day

"Considering that the large majority of domestic violence is men's violence against women, we need men in our community to use their voice and be leaders," said CEO of the Shelter for Abused Women and Children Linda Oberhaus

Members of GADV have been volunteering with the shelter for several years before organizing GADV in 2008.

"We initially started having an annual fund raising lunch. In 2012, we converted to a tailgate event, which has been very successful," said GADV founder John Jordan.

The tailgate event is where Colin Estrem of Naples became interested in making a difference.

"I've got two young daughters 6 and 10, and that's definitely a big part of why I latched onto this cause, definitely would like to see them grow up in a world without domestic violence."

The next tailgate fund raiser will be held January 16th, 2020.
