A photo on Instagram recently went viral. It shows Matt Damon with worker at a Tony's Off Third. The Academy Award Winner stopped at the store on Wednesday to pick up a bottle of wine.
The woman who was there when he walked in was Lexie Verbuggen. She's a Pastry chef at Tony's. During this time of year, she spends a lot of late nights at the shop. The middle of the week is especially busy because she has to prepare for weekend parties and the rush of customers.
"Lot's of snowbirds and a big European corwd." she told Four In Your Corner.
It was one of these late nights in the middle of the week when a special customer came in to the store.
"I came out to kind of evaluate the case and what we needed to make more of and what we were selling out of and I looked up and I said 'What?. That's Matt Damon!"
Lexie says Matt came in with a friend. He did take a quick glace at the pastry shelf, but he was looking for a different kind of treat. According to Lexie, Damon left with at least three bottles of Mercury Head Cabernet Sauvignon from Orin Swift Cellars.
One bottle sells for about $126. The Fancy bottle doesn't have a label, but a coin to distinguish it from other wines on the shelf.
Damon left shortly after buying. but he made sure he was nice to his fans, like the bartender who he took a selfie with.
