Marco Island officer terminated for inappropriate conduct

MARCO ISLAND, Fla. -- An officer with the Marco Island Police Department has been terminated effective immediately after being found guilty of inappropriate conduct while on duty.

According to Marco Island Police, an Internal Affairs investigation has found that Officer Kevin Hennings violated General Orders associated with conduct and telecommunications in connection with "on-duty inappropriate conduct with an adult female."

The investigation started in March 2018.

Further details of the investigation have not been released yet.

According to the Marco Eagle, Officer Hennings has an ongoing lawsuit pending against the City of Marco Island and several individuals on claims he was illegally Baker Acted in 2013.  That case is scheduled for trial in March 2019.
