PORT CHARLOTTE, FLA — A man and woman are dead in an apparent murder-suicide in Port Charlotte.
That's according to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office (CCSO).
CCSO says it all started around 9:30 Wednesday morning, near the corner of Great Falls Terrace Northwest and Lake View Boulevard.
They say that man shot a woman, while she was sitting in the driveway of their home.
They're the shooting a "domestic incident," meaning the pair knew each other and lived together in some capacity.
After shooting that woman, CCSO says that the man barricaded himself in the house and refused to come out.
Despite negotiating with him for hours, the sheriff's office says the man killed himself.
June Clark lives just a few houses away and tells FOX 4 that it's a situation that sent a chill up her spine.
"I was just wondering what happened. That's pretty scary. I mean so close to home. I've never been involved in something like this," said Clark.
There's still no word on a motive in this case.
CCSO adds that the names of that man and woman won't be released until their families are notified.
