FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A Fort Myers man will spend 25 years in prison for shooting and killing a high school classmate in 2017.
According to the State Attorney's Office, 20-year-old Willie Davis was sentenced Tuesday for second degree murder and robbery with a firearm.
Investigators say in June 2017, Davis shot Tanner Crowley to death at the Lago Del Sol apartment complex. Crowley was lured to a vacant apartment, where he walked up a flight of stairs to a landing in front of the apartment and things turned deadly.
Crowley was shot numerous times with an AK-47 assault rifle. He was transported to the hospital and died a short time later.
Lee County Sheriff's investigators say forensic evidence linked Davis to the crime and arrested him in March 2018.
