LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A North Fort Myers man is accused of fraud after investigators say he filed a false claim on a North Fort Myers property after Hurricane Irma.
According to the U.S Department of Justice, 71-year-old Tommy Tracy filed for Federal Emergency Management Agency relief on September 13, 2017. He claimed that a property on Slater Road was his primary residence and that he was living there during the disaster, and that he did not own a rental property affected by the storm.
However, prosecutors say Tracy did not live there and it is actually a rental property owned by Tracy.
If convicted, Tracy faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in federal prison.
