Man arrested after four hour stand off in Collier County

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — The Collier Sheriffs Office responded to a call about a domestic dispute.

Upon arrival, Deputies found a man barricaded in a home with a baby he had a rifle pointed at them. He was telling them to get off his property.

The victim told police she had been trapped in the bathroom, the man, James Robert Purdy, 30, hit her in the head and torso with his fists and kicked her.

, Deputies surrounded the house and tried to get Purdy to come out. Several agencies responded such as SWAT, Hostage Negotiation, K9, and Aviation.

Police were able to get him out four hours later.

James Robert Purdy, 30, is charged with aggravated assault of an officer, child neglect, battery domestic violence, and resisting arrest without violence.
