CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Tonight, we're learning cleanup after a tornado is not a quick process. Just yesterday, SKYFOX 4 captured video of homes torn apart in northwest cape coral.

Homes in a Cape Coral community near Northwest 26th Place suffered tremendous damage. Yesterday neighbors and contractors were outside picking up the pieces. While today this neighborhood was pretty quiet as homeowners try to figure out what is the next step.

Michael Clark a roofing expert with 18 years in the business says the tornado did a lot of damage in just minutes. but he expects the repairs to take much longer.

“Its going to take some time to clean up, obviously the home that are damaged more than others are going to have to be torn down or sections of them torn down and then rebuilt. I think there are just going to be a lot if simple roof replacements though,” said Clark.

From his perspective - this damage is not horrible - but he says neighbors are going to have to stay on top of it.

“A guesstimated 6 months just because the insurance process takes a while to get the funds and everything available with mortgage companies and what not but the faster people make the claims and get a contractor in mind that’s a good person that can help them out the faster they can get it done,” said Clark.

Michael and his partner came up from Naples and have been in the Cape Coral Community helping those in need. he described what he saw throughout the day.

“There’s some chainsaws in the background and the guys are out here working hard getting trees and everything off there’s cars around that have been pummeled by the tornado so its going to be a clean up for a couple weeks I’d say and then its going to be a rebuilding process after that,” said, Clark.
