Lehigh Acres has 8,000 pounds of trash removed

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — Lee County Sheriff's Office announced that 8,000 pounds of trash have been removed from Lehigh Acres.

Deputies said in response to resident's complaints about illegal dumping and homeless people harassing them at legal shopping plazas, they increased patrols in affected areas.

They also offered referral information to those in need of food, medical care and shelter.

LCSO East District deputies continue to document wooded areas of concern and are working to assist with cleanup and trash removal.

Deputies met with members of Lee County DOT, as well as inmate work crews, to begin the cleanup.

Four truckloads of trash and debris were removed from two sites.
