LEE COUNTY, Fla. — The Fort Myers Mighty Mussels wore newly designed Jerseys to celebrate Southwest Florida’s resiliency and fighting spirit Wednesday night.
It's part of Islands Night, an annual tradition that means a bit more this year as the region recovers from Hurricane Ian.
The team debuted their jerseys, which feature two landmarks damaged during Hurricane Ian — the Sanibel Lighthouse and Fort Myers Beach Pier.
Fans can bid on game-worn jerseys designed by Sanibel artist Rachel Pierce during a week-long auction.
All proceeds from the game will go to supporting the island's civic organizations.
