LEE COUNTY, Fla — The State Attorney's Office announced at a press conference on Friday that Jessica Nicole Wright was indicted for First Degree Murder.

State Attorney Amira Fox says Wright distributed fentanyl on August 22, 2019, to a woman and the drug caused her death.

Wright was also indicted for Unlawful distribution of fentanyl, Sale or Delivery of a controlled substance, and Sale or Delivery of a controlled substance near school or church.

State Attorney Amira Fox says in Florida, a person can be charged with First Degree Murder if they distribute drugs that cause a person to die.

Wright is the first person in Lee County to be charged under this statute.
