The Boston Red Sox has announced plans to extend protective netting beyond the dugouts. This change will happen for the start of the 2018 season at JetBlue Park as well as Fenway Park.

The new netting system at JetBlue will extend from Field Box Section 111 to Left Field Box Section 114, and expand from Field Box Section 105 to Left Field Box Section 10. The change will come just in time for spring training.

At Fenway park it will extend from Field Box Section 79 to Field Box Section 9, expanded from an area previously covering Field Box Section 61 to Field Box Section 29.

The Red Sox have worked with numerous design teams and netting vendors to install the nets and make sure that fans will be able to see through then unobscured. All netting will be green in color to make it even easier for fans to see the game.

The team acknowledges that extra netting will offer additional protection. The Red Sox urges fans to be on the lookout during games for balls that enter the area.
